by type (for example, Quilting, Hand Sewing, etc)  We have also developed a new system of explaining what level of sewing skills
are required for the various classes.  Finally, we are proud to add an online interactive Monthly Calendar for you to use.

10 Minute Block Quilt
If you don't like to rotary cut this is the quilt for you! There are only 3 seams in each block which is made from 5 individual pre-cut layer cake pieces. Only the borders need to be cut. Join us to make a beautiful quilt that looks far more difficult to make than it really is. The construction is different from the usual piecing methods. This class is appropriate for those who have already successfully made a quilt using the usual piecing techniques, advanced beginners & beyond.
One 3 hour session: $35

Intermediate Sewing
Take your sewing skills to the next level.  You will be making a dress this time with different sleeve options, putting in an invisible zipper, etc. You will need to purchase fabric and prewash prior to class.

Antique Tumbler Quilt Re-Make
Have you ever admired antique quilt blocks yet found them boring? Join Deborah as she brings the classic Tumbler design to present day with a colorful modern twist!
Prerequisite: should be familiar with 1/4" seaming & successfully constructed a quilt top.
Two 2 hour Sessions: $40 plus $60 kit which includes 300 precut blocks

Applique Dish Towel
Learn machine embroidery applique techniques by joining us for the dishtowel applique class. You will applique a holiday motif on a dish towel. Must have good working knowledge of your embroidery machine. Prerequisite: Embroidery Mastery or good working knowledge of your embroidery machine.
One 2 hour Session:  $25 (One 2 Hour Sessions) + $12 kit includes towel, stabilizer, thread and design (Patty will email the design)

Baby Blanket with Easy Mitered Corners
Come join Laurie and have fun learning how to make a wonderful baby blanket with self-mitered corners. Once you have the technique down, this will become your go-to project for those little ones in your life or for a quick baby shower gift. In this hands on class, Laurie will walk you through the project step by step with detail instructions and tips to ensure success. Great class for adults with any level of sewing experience as long as you are comfortable with operating a sewing machine.
Cost:  One 2 1/2 hour session: $35

BERNINA Software Sampler Virtual Club
Join us for this virtual training offered by Bernina Educators in the comfort of our store! We will go through an online demo/training, taking our time learning new techniques as we go! Take home CD includes software instructional video, Project Lesson Handout, Software Lesson Handout, PowerPoint Presentation, PowerPoint Handout for note taking, All graphics needed to complete the lessons, and Completed Designs!

Appliqué Dish Towel

Basic English geometric smocking on pleated fabric. You will learn basic geometric smocking stitches and how to combine them and read a geometric smocking plate. This class is for the novice or those who wish to refresh their smocking skills.

Learn the basics and make your own unique pajama pants, short or capris with optional ruffle at the hemline. We will trace the pattern, learn pattern layout and construct our pajamas in one fun day (with a lunch break, of course). Maureen will discuss fabric selection at the beginning of class.

Bernina Software Designer+ V7/V8 Mastery Classes

With the introduction of BERNINA V8 and the changes in class format and teachers, we would like to invite all of you to join us on Wednesday evenings from 6-8pm to learn about the exciting new features V8 offers and get to know a little about where your designing desires lie. BERNINA has produced 4 workbooks to help guide your learning process. These will be used for the class however, as we meet, the lessons may change and expand based on what the class is interested in. Questions spark creativity and we can all learn from each other.
Cost:  Classes are FREE if you have purchased your software from us.  Otherwise, classes are $50 per session.

There are so many uses for this great tote! You will want to make one for library, one for the beach and many more for groceries. Totes

Create it, Stitch it, Discuss it
This class will meet 2 nights a month. The first class will show you how to create a predetermined project. Once the basics have been taught, you will be expected to work on the design on your own and stitch it prior to the next class. The second class will be a show and tell of the previous class's project and a discussion of what worked and what didn't work. A minimum of 5 students is required.

Two 2 hour session:  $30

In The Hoop Travel Pouch
In the Hoop Travel Pouch is a unique design of a zippered pouch and a tissue holder all in one. It is stitched completely in the hoop of your embroidery machine. This pouch features pockets within the zippered area -- keep your sanitizer, cough drops, and other essentials in there. And the back side holds tissues! Prerequisite: Embroidery Mastery or good working knowledge of your embroidery machine.

Did you miss summer camp but would still like to learn some basic machine sewing skills? Come have fun learning while you make a one-of-a-kind pillowcase.

Kids Summer Sewing Camps
Bring a bag lunch and spend the morning hours with Maureen as you construct fun projects and learning basic sewing skills. All patterns/supplies for projects and use of classroom sewing machine included in class fee for each camp. Bring your own sewing kit** of basic sewing supplies. Machine Quilting 101
Come learn the basics of machine quilting. We will cover how to make the quilt "sandwich", basting options, marking options, important considerations when machine quilting, walking feet flexibility and start you on free motion quilting. Prerequisite: You must be knowledgeable about your machine, how to thread it, make bobbins, switch feet, and be able to adjust: thread tension, stitch length, and foot pressure. Loaner machines available upon request.
One 3 hour session: $35 + $15 Kit

Machine Quilting 102
You’ve quilted small quilts but now you would like to quilt a large one on your regular home machine.  The solution is: construct your quilt in sections, quilt the individual manageable sections and then put the sections together. I’ll show you all the steps and tricks to make you successful.  We will discuss how to decide how to section a quilt design, and even how best to handle borders. So before you finish sewing that quilt top together, join me for a few hours and then rethink your quilting options and capabilities.

SAGA
Join our local chapter of Smocking Arts Guild of America - Elegant Stitchers of Cary - for the education & preservation of the art of smocking and related needle work.  Participate in our "wee care gown" community service project as well as other education programs. 
Cost:  $30 National Dues and $10 local chapter dues

 

Tick Tock Quilt - Entry Level
A quilting class designed for true beginner quilters. We will cover the basics of quilt making: rotary cutting, grain of fabric, piecing blocks with 1/4 " seams, terminology of quilt patterns, how to sandwich your quilt layers, and bind straight sides. You may use one of our machines that include 1/4" foot, Walking Foot, and BSR foot (Bernina Stitch Regulator) if you don't have one, but you will have homework so you will have to be able to complete work in between classes!
Five 2 hour sessions:  $110

Fabrics for your quilt: Instructor will assist in fabric selection during the first class
Batting appropriate for finished size of quilt

YES Club - Young Elegant Stitchers Club
On the first Friday of month from 5-8pm Young Elegant Stitchers will meet to create a new project. These projects are designed to excite and inspire the young sewing enthusiast. We will reinforce basic sewing skills, pattern reading skills, and sewing fundamentals. New members welcome! Ages 9 & Up. Sewing machines will be provided if needed. (Some basic sewing machine knowledge strongly suggested or permission from instructor) You must bring your own scissors, pins, and marking pen. Projects vary with each session.
Class Fee: $35  + Kit cost will vary with the project
Supplies: General sewing supplies (Basic sewing kit available for purchase)

CLASS REGISTRATION AND POLICIES 

Full payment of class fees must be made at the time of registration.  You may register in person or by phone (919-852-4445) with a credit card or check. 

*  A list of class supplies will be available upon receipt of payment.  Please stop by to pick one up if you don't register in person or we will be glad to mail you one.

*  Students enrolled in our classes will receive a 10% discount on class-related materials and also on purchases made during class sessions.  Please allow time to prepare your fabrics and patterns before class begins when applicable.

*  All brands of sewing machines and sergers are welcome in our classes.  If you would like to use one of our machines during your class please notify us at the time of registration.

*  Most of our classes require a minimum of 4 students.  In the event a class has to be canceled you may receive a full refund, apply payment toward another class or receive a credit for store merchandise.

*  Should you need to cancel more than 7 days prior to the beginning of class you may choose one of the aforementioned refund options.  Cancellations made after that time and up to 2 BUSINESS DAYS before the start of a class will receive a credit for store merchandise.  NO refunds or credits will be allowed if cancellations are received less than 2 BUSINESS DAYS prior to the beginning of a class.

*  We regret we cannot permit babies or children to attend classes or guide lessons with their parents.
